I’ve sent this ask to many fat pride blogs. None have replied (probably because they don’t have an answer and don’t want to admit that they’re wrong) so I’ll post it publicly to see if anyone else can shine light on the topic.
How is fat pride any better than pro ana?
Both encourage unhealthy lifestyles, and tell girls that they are beautiful when they are actually dangerously fat/thin.
Why must we romanticize any extreme of weight?
Would it not be better just to encourage everyone to strive for a normal, healthy weight and lifestyle?
If you look at many of these body positive blogs, you’ll find that most of the girls pictured are not of an unhealthy weight. It’s important for people to have a representation of the average body, and the understanding that it is, indeed, average.
